Margaret joined Penrose-St. Francis Health Services as the President & CEO in November 2008. She oversees the daily operations of the 522-bed system, which includes Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, Penrose Mountain Urgent Care, Penrose Community Urgent Care, and Penrose Urgent Care at Cripple Creek. In July 2009, Margaret was also named the South State Operating Group president for Centura Health, overseeing operations at all Centura hospitals in southern Colorado: Penrose-St. Francis in Colorado Springs; St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo; and St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City. Additionally, she serves as chair of Centura Health’s Trauma Council, leading the first integrated health care network nationally to establish a trauma system linked to its own facilities and services with 20 facilities and a variety of essential services.
From 2005-2008, Margaret was the CEO of Sutter Health Partners and Vice President of New Product Development for Sutter Health in Sacramento, Calif. Prior to that, she was CEO of Marin Community Health for five years, which included Sutter Health affiliates Marin General Hospital and Novato Community Hospital. She has also served as CEO of the Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo. In addition, she has been the Vice President for EMS and Trauma for the HealthONE Corporation. She was named one of the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s “Women of Influence” in 2009, and one of the Bay Area’s 100 Most Influential Women in Business by the San Francisco Business Times in 2003 and 2004. Margaret is a certified fitness instructor with the American Council on Exercise, and was named to Becker's Hospital Review’s 2012 and 2015 "100 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know" list. In 2013, she was a recipient of the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Award, and in 2014, was named the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s “Healthiest CEO.” Margaret is a certified fitness instructor, and maintains her certification by teaching weekly community boot camp classes at Penrose Hospital.
